Overview: Aitchison Raffety’s Healthcare team were instructed by their client Parkbury House Surgery to review and appeal the level of Notional Rent assessed by the District Valuer at their most recent review.

The team have assisted the practice with a variety of property related matters for a period of over 20 years.

The property is a substantial converted and extended surgery on the outskirts of St Albans town centre.

The Process: Once the District Valuer had provided their initial assessment to the practice, our review of the figures indicated that the assessment was low.  We progressed the appeal on behalf of the practice and undertook all communications with the ICB and District Valuer.  This helps to provide a fuss free service so that the practice can concentrate on the day to day running of the surgery and serving the requirements of their patient list.

Aitchison Raffety have acted on behalf of the majority of GP practices in the town and surrounding areas, and have full and comprehensive details of comparable evidence, enabling us to put together a solid case to negotiate and agree the best possible outcome for the practice.

Outcome:  The appeal was successful and resulted in a 14% uplift in rent reimbursement from the previous assessment, and a 7% uplift from the District Valuer’s initial proposal.
